Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum)

The snails seem to know what plants are good for them…🐌

Despite being well munched my fenugreek plant is holding on and has given me a beautiful flower. Well known for its culinary use but did you know fenugreek seeds have medicinal properties:

⭐️Natural source of iron
⭐️Stimulates milk production in mothers
⭐️Can be gargled to ease sore throats
⭐️Aids digestion & soothes irritation and inflammation in the gut
⭐️Lowers harmful cholesterol & triglycerides
⭐️Regulates blood sugar levels
⭐️Reduces menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and insomnia

Fenugreek tea (known as Methi water in India) method:

☕️1 tablespoon fenugreek seeds into a saucepan on stove
☕️Pour 1 cup (240ml) of water (you can double up on seeds and water if you want a bigger batch)
☕️Bring to the boil and simmer (with lid on) for approx 5 minutes, until the water turns a pale yellow colour
☕️Take off heat and let sit for 10 - 15 minutes
☕️Pour through strainer and drink or store in fridge for use later

P.S. reduce your waste by using the boiled in seeds in your cooking ♻️

Enjoy!
