The snails seem to know what plants are good for them…
Despite being well munched my fenugreek plant is holding on and has given me a beautiful flower. Well known for its culinary use but did you know fenugreek seeds have medicinal properties:
Natural source of iron
Stimulates milk production in mothers
Can be gargled to ease sore throats
Aids digestion & soothes irritation and inflammation in the gut
Lowers harmful cholesterol & triglycerides
Regulates blood sugar levels
Reduces menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and insomnia
Fenugreek tea (known as Methi water in India) method:
1 tablespoon fenugreek seeds into a saucepan on stove
Pour 1 cup (240ml) of water (you can double up on seeds and water if you want a bigger batch)
Bring to the boil and simmer (with lid on) for approx 5 minutes, until the water turns a pale yellow colour
Take off heat and let sit for 10 - 15 minutes
Pour through strainer and drink or store in fridge for use later
P.S. reduce your waste by using the boiled in seeds in your cooking
Enjoy!
