Spring is here..and so are the itchy red eyes, runny noses & constant sneezes

We long for the warmer weather after the winter months but with that comes the dreaded hay fever season.  Allergies affect many of us and often the only option is to use antihistamines but there are ways to help naturally, there are herbs that specifically balance the immune system, reduce histamine levels, ease itching and relieve that constant runny nose.

Elderflower (Sambucus nigra) - stop the mucus!
Nettle (Urtica dioica) - natural antihistamine, detoxifier
Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma luciderm) - modulates the immune system
Eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis) - relieve those itchy eyes

Our immune system, responsible for allergies and inflammation, is mainly located in our gut so it is important to keep it in shape.  Things like stress, antibiotics, sugar can disrupt our gut flora, upsetting our good bacteria which contribute to our immune systems and can lead to conditions such as allergies, hay fever, eczema.  So it is good to get the probiotics in as a supplement or from fermented foods, such as sauerkraut, or kefir.

An apple a day helps keep the allergies away.  In the skin of an apple is quercetin, a potent antioxidant which helps reduce histamine.

Vitamin C is well known for supporting the immune system and is thought to reduce histamine levels, consider a liposomal vitamin C which increases its bioavailability.

If you would like individual advice for your allergies, book a consultation so we can discuss your specific needs.
